Melanie Sita · The Lord is My Shepherd (Psalm 23) Keith Green cover
KJV
PSALMS 23
A Psalm of David.
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
What a beautiful song. 🙂

I read this Psalm at my mother’s funeral, as she had requested before her death. I choked up a couple of times. I love this sung version. Thank you! ❤

Thank you Timi. I appreciate your nomination and that you feel I am worthy but, like you, I don’t follow rules very well and don’t usually get involved in awards.

Totally understandable, Larry. Just from having to go through the rigmarole of this one, I think that I won’t get involved in any others! 😛

Thanks. I listen to it every day. As a child, 23 psalm was the “funeral” verse. Now I find it very uplifting

When I truly ponder the words, and the promises in them, I am blown away by such love and care of God to us in Christ Jesus, the Great Shepherd. Thanks again!

During my first heart attack I kept repeating this over and over while being transported to the ED…I didn’t know I was doing so. The EMT’s made a note of it. It’s funny (not funny ha ha, funny odd) that you mentioned it used to be thought the funeral psalm.

I use to feel this was wore out by funerals. Then I heard a message when stuck in a valley. He preached, if it wasn’t for Psalms 22 there would be no Psalms 23. Thank you for sharing. 😊

Hi Larry,
Just stumbled on this and wanted to thank you for sharing. Keith Green’s music was a huge influence at the beginning of my Christian journey. I am so thankful to know that anyone has been encouraged by my version and recognize it as not just a psalm to read at funerals, but words of great comfort and promises of a loving Father. ~Melanie
