Fire & Fury

Donald J. Trump stated at a briefing on the opioid crisis at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.:

“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen. He has been very threatening beyond a normal state. And as I said, they will be met with fire, fury and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.”    fire and fury

Who are these people?  They threaten each other with dire consequences.  They throw sanctions, they name-call, they bully, they test missiles, they use the destruction of vast areas of global territory and the death of millions of humans in their pubescent-boy games to jockey for positions of power within their feeble boy minds.  And sadly, they have the power to carry out their threats.  Do they represent what you or I want as a resolution to decades of mistrust and botched diplomacy and do they truly believe that a winner could emerge from the conflict?

It is so horribly reminiscent of Vietnam during the 1960s.  Millions of Vietnamese civilians lost their lives as American profiteering laid waste to their country while expounding the virtues of saving the country from communism.  It was a lie.  The military played their war games as the armament industry grew fabulously wealthy.  But, Vietnam was not a nuclear conflict.  North Korea will be nuclear and there will be no winners.  Does anybody else understand that?  Certainly you and I understand but we have been castrated by an administration intent on wielding its brawn and might throughout the world, by a President who has never in his entire lifetime embraced the power of compromise and diplomacy.

Quite possibly it’s too late.  America has installed a man ill-equipped for compromise and lacking the wisdom for diplomacy.  America’s recent election has unleashed within its population a vocal cadre of wannabe saber-rattlers ready to gorge on the bloodshed.  The industrial/military complex salivates as profit expectations excite the corporate boardrooms. Those sitting in the halls of Congress with the wherewithal to pursue a policy of mature interaction have failed us.

Meanwhile countless millions of innocent souls are asking, “Who are these people? What authority gives Donald J. Trump and Kim Jong-Un such absolute control of our futures?”  The North Korean population has had minimal choice in their dictator.  What’s America’s excuse?

  1. Well said. Neither Trump nor Kim Jong speak for the masses. They are menaces in a peaceful world…just so they can hold up their toys and say ‘mine is bigger than yours.’
What has humanity to do with these two psychopaths? Nothing at all good will come out of these two men (children)!
